Playa de La Gola

As a curious historical fact, it should be noted that on this beach most of the contraband was made in the post-Civil War period. It is only accessible on foot from the beach of Pinet or Tamarit. On the beach of La Gola we find the pier of Salinas Bras del Port, whose construction was requested by Don Alfonso Llorens Ceriola in 1896 to the Ministry of Public Works to export the salt that they produced. Thus, the "decauville" wagons could directly pour the salt into the barges used to transport the salt to the ships anchored offshore. On this beach we can also observe several bunkers of the Spanish Civil War. These defensive constructions or machine-gun nests were built by Republican militiamen to protect the salt jetty.
