The beach of El Altet extends, to the north, with the beach of Urbanova, already in the municipal term of Alicante; to the south, it borders the other beach of this coastal town of the Bay of Alicante, Los Arenales del Sol and, later, of the Dunas del Carabasí, belonging to the hamlet of Balsares. It constitutes a great virgin space of golden sand and calm waters. It is located in an area of high ecological value as are the coastal dune ecosystems. It forms one of the most singular landscapes of the province since in it one can observe a complex functioning of the dune genesis, which makes it a unique reference in Spain. This beach, in addition, is characterized by its fine golden colored sand that extends along two kilometers. The whole natural ecosystem of El Altet beach is formed by the beach itself, its fossil dune system as well as the Salar de la Sinieta or Bassars, located in the area behind the beach, and this coastal ecosystem is closely related to the Agua Amarga salt marsh and the Colmenares mountain range to the north, as well as the Clot de Galvany, the Carabassi dunes and the Santa Pola mountain range in its southern zone. It has parking area, lavapiés, wooden walkways, chiringuito, areas to practice sport, rent of hammocks and parasols and maritime surveillance. It also has a regular bus service that connects it with El Altet, Elche and Alicante.
