El Campello is a coastal municipality of the Valencian Community (Spain) belonging to the province of Alicante, located 13 kilometers northeast of the city of Alicante. It is part of the agglomeration of Alicante and is included in the historic district of La Huerta de Alicante. It has 27,604 inhabitants (INE 2017). Tourism is one of its main economic drivers. The municipal area, 55.27 square kilometers, borders Alicante, San Juan de Alicante, Muchamiel, Busot, Aguas de Busot, Orcheta and Villajoyosa. The term counts on 23 km of coast, emphasizing the beach of Muchavista (that is the name that receives the continuation of the beach of San Juan, pertaining to Alicante, in the municipal term of Campello) and the one that is situated in the own helmet urban. Halfway between the two beaches, the Monnegre river flows, called Rio Seco (in Valencian: Riu Sec) in the Huerta de Alicante, whose flow on its way through Campello is usually nil, although it can carry violent currents of water at times of heavy rains (floods). On its coast, the beach of Calle del Mar, located on the seafront (in the urban area), the coves of the Baños de la Reina, on the Isleta, and the creeks of the Coveta Fumá - nucleus are also well known. of population of the municipality of Campello, with a population of approx. of 1,060 hab. (2004) that suffers an important urban development for some years-. The orography of Campello is flat in its southern part, while the northern part of the term is conditioned by the foothills of Cabezón de Oro, with geographic features that do not exceed 310 meters in altitude.
