Monumento al Foguerer

The city of Alicante is characterized by its very busy parties and local celebrations, well supported by its people. The tradition is something fundamental impregnated in the genes of the natives of Alicante and those welcomed by this city that perfectly integrates other cultures as well. As a result of that love for the "fogueres" (bonfires), stands a monument that is located in the Plaza de España. Made by the sculptor José Gutierrez Carbonell in 1982, in concrete, stone, marble and bronze. It depicts a man, woman and child, highlighting the figure of the "foguerer" that makes up any member of a family, and, behind them, a great flame, main character of these festivities when the fire engulfs these fantastic works of art that have been created to be burnt down on Alicante's greatest night of the year, Saint John's (June, 24th).
