The Puerta del Mar is a central square of the Spanish city of Alicante formed by two large landscaped islands. It is located between the promenades of the Explanada and the Postiguet, halfway between the town hall, the port and the beach. The square is where once was the Puerta del Mar that received those who entered the city of Alicante from the dock. It was built in 1544 by the Duke of Calabria.
