The statue consists of a pedestal of polished stone, and a representation of Eleuterio Maisonnave in cast bronze, work of the sculptor Vicente Bañuls from Alicante. In 1895 it was inaugurated in an enclave near its current one, although a few years later it was located in the square itself.
