The L’Albarda garden is a reference model in the world of Mediterranean gardening. Created in 1990, this garden shows us the great richness of the flora linked to this climate. L’Albarda has an area of about 50,000 m2 and with more than 700 species of native plants, as well as a wide collection of roses and palm trees. In addition to its great botanical biodiversity, L’Albarda has a formal garden and a wild garden, recreating the image of the old Valencian Renaissance gardens, influenced by Arab culture. Being a Renaissance garden the architectural aspects are of great importance. The visitor will observe walks, pergolas, pavilions and fountains of great beauty that will transport their imagination to times gone by. A garden with a formal aesthetic has ordered spaces, architectural lines and well-defined geometric lines. With regard to finishes and decoration, we can find Baroque, Renaissance and Neoclassical details with species that are very resistant to climatic changes and slow growing. This type of garden lasts over time and will beautify our home for many years. Below we provide the keys to achieve a garden of this type. When it comes to thinking about the species that will adorn the patio, it is recommended to choose slow-growing plants, in this way we will be able to maintain an unalterable garden for much longer. The species chosen must allow cuts and the design of drawings continuously, for this it is advisable to choose the following types of plants. Trees: cypress, palm, oak, magnolia, flowering pear, and rowan Shrubs: boxwood, yew, myrtle, laurel, holly, eponymous, nymus or camellia. Complement species: calla lilies, peonies, low rose bushes, azaleas or ivy. The application of fountains or water jets are elements that cannot be absent in the designs of formal gardens. The location of these elements must be taken into account, always looking for symmetry or marking characteristic axes in certain places in the garden. Different types of materials such as natural stone, marble gravel, old brick and iron are traditional elements that do not go out of style and are excellently integrated with each other.
